With family by her side, Margaret Ann "Peggy" McClaskey Farrish of Oak Hill, WV passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at her home.
Born in Minden, WV, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Dewey and Marguritte E. Wynes McClaskey.
Peggy was a 1951 graduate from Collins High School in Oak Hill and graduated from Concord College in 1955 and worked on her graduate studies at Marshall University. She taught school in Minden and at Collins, teaching English, Literature and typing. She loved teaching especially English and Literature.
Walt Farrish met Peggy when she was 13 and married her in 1955. They had celebrated 60 years together at the time of Dad's passing. They had an amazing partnership with love and respect for each other.
Peg had a love for poetry, reading, painting with acrylics and watching the ocean at Daytona beach. In 1969 she and Dad purchased an H&R Block Franchise which was in the family until 1994. She continued her tax accounting business in Oak Hill with General Business Services, INC until retiring in 2016. and continued to consult with Amy on tax matters up until the time of her death. She was an Enrolled Agent federally authorized tax practitioner empowered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury. She actively practiced tia chi, yoga and water aerobics up until her death. She participated in many of Active Southern West Virginia's events and was honored as person of the month.
Her husband, Walter Franklin Farrish, Jr. preceded her in death (March 31, 2016) as did her brother, James Dewey McClaskey, Sr.
Forever cherishing her memory will be her four children, Joy Farrish of Oak Hill, Beth Ann Farrish Frommer of Florida; Amy Jo Farrish of Oak Hill and Walter F. Farrish, III of Oak Hill; and grandchildren, Maris Quinn Frommer, Samantha Nibert, Dawson Nibert, and Walter F. Farrish, IV; several nieces and nephews, and countless friends. Peggy had an amazing ability to make anyone feel loved unconditionally and bring laughter and happiness often. She made her children's and grandchildren's lives brighter and better. She was their shining star .
The family would like to thank Dr. Scott Keffer (cousin), Dr. Joshua Boggs and his nurse Millie Bailes at New River Health, Dr. James R. Snapper Pulmonologist at Duke Asthma, Allergy and Airway Center and Dr. David S. Yoo Radiation Oncologist at Duke Cancer Center.
Peggy graciously donated her body to the Human Gift Registry at the WV School of Osteopathic Medicine, Lewisburg, WV. No service is planned at this time.
