Margaret Stover Humphrey

Margaret Goldie Stover Humphrey , 94, of Pax, WV went to be with our Lord on Monday, December 19, 2011 at Heartland Nursing Home in Beckley, WV. Born November 24, 1917 at Mossy, WV she was the daughter of the late Frank and Daisy Pearl Smith Stover. For many years Margaret and her husband Alfred owned and operated "Margaret's Grocery" of Pax, West Virginia. She was a member of the Long Branch United Methodist Church in Pax for over 63 years, where she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and was the Worship Steward. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Joseph "Banty" Humphrey, brothers, Dewey Stover, Roy Bishop, Sherman Stover, Haven Stover and Jerry Stover, and sisters, Velva Blake, Dorothy Treadway and Jeanette Aliff. Margaret was the last member of the family and lived to be the oldest. Survivors include her daughter, Peggy Humphrey Helm Sasser and husband, William "Bill" of Pax, granddaughter, Shawn Helm-Posthauer and husband, Vincent "Duffy" Posthauer, Jr. of St. Albans, grandson, Edward J. "Joey" Helm and wife, Carol of St. Albans, great grandchildren, Melanie Helm a student at Concord in Athens, and Hunter Helm of St. Albans. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, long-time loving caregiver, Flora Bell Wines and husband, Herman and extended family, Edward Helm and wife, Nora. Margaret loved her Lord and Savior, her family and her community, she touched many lives with her courage, strength, generosity and loving heart. Funeral services will be on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 2:00 P.M at the Long Branch United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Holley officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
