Margaret "Maggie" Anderson

Margaret "Maggie" E. McGuffin Anderson, 91, of Red Star, WV died on Sunday, October 18, 2009 at Hilltop Center in Hilltop, WV. Born November 17, 1917 at Stone Cliff, WV she was the daughter of the late Claymus Wesley and Ethel Virginia Samples McGuffin. Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Red Star Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Her husband, Emery R. Anderson; son, Emory Anderson; brothers, Thomas Wesley, John, James Earl, Glen F. McGuffin and Robert C. "Bobby" McGuffin and sisters, Joyce McGuffin, Mary Sue Hash and Harriett Bishop preceded her in death. Survivors include three sons, Thomas Anderson and wife, Julie of Beckley, James P. Anderson and wife, Alice of Maple Fork, and David K. Anderson and wife, Sandra of Milwaukee, WI; one daughter, Judith Appler of Oak Hill; a daughter-in-law, Delma Anderson of Beckley; two brothers, Emory Wayne McGuffin of Oak Hill, and Ritchie McGuffin of Huntington and two sisters, Jean Sumner of Grants, NM and Betty Campbell of Phoenix, AZ. Thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild also survive her. Services will be on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with her son, Pastor Thomas Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity, WV. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
