Mamie H. Paulin Thompson , 99, of Fairlea, WV formerly of Harvey, WV died on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Fairlea, WV. Born April 16, 1912 at Renick, WV she was the daughter of the late David and Frances Zajar Paulin. Mrs. Thompson was a native of Greenbrier County, WV. She and her husband, Leonard who survives her, had lived most of their lives in Fayette County, WV. She graduated from Williamsburg High School and Bluefield Business College. Mrs. Thompson worked as a bookkeeper for a coal company at Stone Cliff as well as being a postmistress and company store manager. In 1956 she purchased a small grocery store in Harvey and loved serving her community. She was an active member of the Harvey United Methodist Church for 60 years during which time she had served as church treasurer and Sunday school teacher. She was the last surviving Paulin sibling. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Dorothy Arnold and husband, Bill, of Buckingham, PA and three grandsons, William Arnold, III of Huntingtown, MD, John Arnold and wife, Anna of Falls Church, VA and Bruce Arnold of Seattle, WA Great grandchildren, Nicholas Arnold, Grant Arnold, Angela Arnold, William Arnold, Hayden Arnold and Iris Arnold-Hatcher also survive. Funeral services will be on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. Gerald Kincaid, Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Chuck DeLano, William Arnold, Jr., William Arnold, III, Col. John Arnold, Nicholas Arnold and Grant Arnold will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
