Madge D. Smithson French

October 18, 1937 — February 20, 2013

Madge Darlene "Ginger" Smithson French was born on October 18, 1937 in Chimney Corner, WV. Ginger went to be with the Lord her Savior on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 following a long battle with Altzheimers Disease. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Samuel French II, an infant son, and her daughter Kathy French Wilson. She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Dorothy Tufts French. She is survived by her two sons, Samuel French III and wife Yvette and their daughter Kara of Leesburg, FL and Mark French and son Sonny Keller of Oak Hill, WV. She is also survived by her late daughter, Kathy's children, Kelvin Wilson II and wife Jennifer and their children Taegan and Little Kelvin of Daniels, WV, Kimberly Meador and husband Herb and their children Darian, Herbie and Kathy-Rose of Oak Hill, WV, Kristoffer Wilson and wife Keri and their children Kailyn, Kristoffer and Kelsey of Fayetteville, WV, Kristin Shrewsbury and husband Justin and their children Madison, Aleigha, JJ and Landon of Beckley, WV. Ginger was the epitome of what a mother/grandmother should strive to be. The characteristics described by the many that knew her, she was kind, loving, compassionate, submissive, and gentle along with so many others. With the love of her life, Samuel French, she had three beautiful children and while raising them with content and tremendous love from dance lessons for Kathy to fishing with Sam and Mark at Uncle Jimmy's pond, she always found joy and peace. After the passing of her beloved daughter, she went on to raise her four grandchildren with the same love and dedication as she did for her own. They have many great memories with her, from trips to the lake to Camden Park, to being the biggest fan at a Little League game. She was very adamant about their education, she provided a home and all that she asked was that they succeeded in gaining an education. Ginger was employed by Hardees of Oak Hill for 19 years until their closing. Everyone that knew her, knew her as "The Favorite Biscuit Maker" with a happy face and a friendly smile. She was always well loved by her coworkers and by a dear friend, Patsy Moore. She loved her neighbors and would visit them often. She was a lover of all animals There was always and array of animals around her home that she would feed and care for . She could never pass up an opportunity to help a person or animal in need. "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres" A special thanks to Dr. Scott Keffer and the staff of Fayette Nursing and Rehabilitation.
