Macel King Kidd

June 12, 1921 — February 9, 2015

Macel Elizabeth King Kidd, 93, of Oak Hill, WV slipped quietly into heaven on Monday, February 9, 2015 at Hidden Valley Nursing Home, Oak Hill, WV.

Born June 12, 1921 in Gatewood, WV. She was the daughter of the late William Henry King and Bessie Cody King.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Lenon W. Kidd, and son Bobby W. Kidd, both of Oak Hill. Also preceding her were her three brothers, Troy King, Olen King, and Reverend Earl P. King and sisters, Vivian Killough, and Zelma Jones.

She is survived by her sister, Juanita Roark, Millwood and brother, Waskey King, of Parma, Michigan; her children, Deanna Stafford of Fayetteville, Joy Painter (Rudy) of Oak Hill, and Sherrill Patrick (Larry) of Oak Hill; 5 grandchildren, Kristen Adkins, Matthew Painter, Jessica Hodge, Joshua Ratliff and Shane Stafford whom she loved dearly as well as 8 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Kidd was of Pentecostal faith and attended the Church of God.

Our sweet Mother loved the Lord with all her heart, mind & soul. She said one time she didn't do enough for the Lord, even though she gave out of her abundance to her children, grandchildren, many other family members. She gave to churches, gospel radio ministries, organizations, individuals, and placed thousands of tiny Bibles in restaurants, shopping malls, phone booths, hospitals, nursing homes and anywhere else she could find a place to spread the Gospel as well as giving hundreds of Bibles to a local jail ministry. She covered her family & friends with diligent prayer always willing to stop whatever she was doing and “literally” stand on the Word of God for whatever need, sickness, or problem they might be facing. What a beautiful legacy she has created for our family, one that we hope & pray to strive for!

Her family will receive family and friends on Friday, February 13, 2015 from 6 to 8 pm at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill. Services will be Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 11:00 am with Reverends Max McCloud and Rudell Bloomfield officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Family members will serve as pallbearers.

Her daughter's would like to say thank you to everyone who sent cards, fruit baskets, candy or made visits to see our Mother. We would like to say a huge thank you to Hidden Valley Nursing Home administrative staff, physical therapy, CNA’s, dietary staff and the nursing staff, who gave our Mother exceptional care. We want to especially thank Charlie, Allie, Kristen & her special nurse, Renee’ (Ms. Elder). We extend our utmost gratitude to Hospice of Southern WV for all they did during these last few days. Lastly, we want to say a SPECIAL thank you to Mother’s best friend, Sandra Rae Hall, who spent countless and selfless hours fulfilling a promise she made to our Mom. Rae was a true and faithful friend and we can never repay the debt of gratitude we have toward the love and care she gave her.

Although our hearts are extremely broken, we are comforted to know our Mother fought a good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith (2 Timothy 4:7). She is now reunited with her “Sweetheart” and her “Precious Son” but most of all clapping her little hands forever “Happy in the Lord”!
