Lyda Fankell

Lyda Mae Shaffer Fankell, 93, of Oak Hill, WV died Sunday, March 14, 2004 at Fayette Continuous Care in Fayetteville, WV after a short illness. She was born in Carter County, Kentucky on February 15, 1911 a daughter of the late William R. Shaffer and Phoebe Ross Shaffer. Mrs. Fankell was a homemaker and a member of the Oak Hill Church of the Nazarene. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Cora Wurtz and Ann Mullins; three brothers, Lawrence Shaffer, Harve Shaffer and Mose Shaffer. Survivors include her husband of 66 years Clifford Wayne Fankell; one son, Harold Fankell and his wife, Mary Sue, of Rt. 1, Fayetteville, WV; one daughter, Nina Shockey and husband, Lewis, of Fayetteville, WV; six grandchildren, Crystal Calvert of Oak Hill, Lisa Schoolcraft of London, KY, Dean Fankell of Rainelle, Jon Paul Shockey of Little Rock, Arkansas, Jennifer Robinson and Justin Shockey of Fayetteville, WV; Four great grandchildren, and one sister, June Sargent of Ashland, KY. Services Wednesday, March 17, at 1:00 PM at the Oak Hill Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Jerry Bush and Rev. Ben Gentile officiating. Friends may call Tuesday evening, March 16, from 6 until 8 PM at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill.
