Lura Arretta Toney Smith

On August 13, 2010, Lura Arretta Toney Smith, was given the gift of eternal life, when she went home to be with our heavenly father. Born March 24, 1926 at Carlisle, WV, she was the daughter of the late Coy W. and Mary E. Akers Toney. Her husband of 67 years, Arlie A. Smith preceded her to heaven by six month and five days. Now together, they can enjoy eternal life together. Also preceding her to the heavenly father were two brothers, Alfred E. Toney and Earl Robert Toney, Sr. Left to cherish their memories are two daughters, Brenda E. Smith-Goins and her husband Roger C. Goins and Marilyn Kay Smith-Bigelow all of Oak Hill area; four grandchildren, Jon B. Goins and wife Belinda of Paris Island, SC, Dawn Elaine-Goins Thomas, Jeremiah L. Goins of Oak Hill and James E. Bigelow and wife Sherry of Hilton, New York; three great grandchildren, Chasity, Zachary and Jacob Thomas of Oak Hill. Lura is also survived by her sister, Pauline R. Crockett and her husband Woody of Oak Hill; two sister-in-laws, Marie Toney of Ocala, FL and Jane M. Toney of Oak Hill. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at the Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill with Rev. Lum Toney officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Viewing will be held for family and friends will be on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 from12:00 Noon until the service hour of 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be nephews, Jimmy Smith, Earl R. Toney, Jr., Arthur Toney, Seth, Levi and Caleb Toney of Oak Hill and son-in-law, Roger Goins of Oak Hill.
