Lucille M. Newell

Return, O my soul, to your rest; for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you. Psalms 116:7 Lucille M. Newman Newell , 102, of Oak Hill, WV, the widow of Dr. Donald C. Newell, Sr. passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at her home. One of four children, she was born in Danbury, Nebraska to John L. Newman and Nettie Eno Newman on December 31, 1907. Mrs. Newell was an alumnae of Capital City Commercial College in Des Moines, Iowa. She was a long serving member of the Oak Hill Garden Club, Fayette Study Club, and several bridge clubs. In addition, she was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church having served many years on the Altar Guild. Survivors include her children, Jacqueline L. Gallaher and her husband, Edward of Andrews, SC. and Donald C. Newell, Jr. and his wife, Darlene of Lochgelly. WV; four grandchildren, eight great -grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three siblings and a grandson. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, on Friday, April 30, 2010 from 6 pm to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Oak Hill on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Roy Crist and Rev. Rick Rutledge officiating. Entombment will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Curtis H. Thomas, Jr., Tag Gallaher, Ryan Newell, Lee Newell, Eddie Joe Lloyd and Josh Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be Edward Gallaher and Michael Emerson. Special thanks to “Angel Caregivers” Carol, Lee, Rhonda and Marlene for their loving care over the past 3½ years.
