Lucile Elizabeth Shepherd Duncan

Lucile Elizabeth Shepherd Duncan, age 89, of Oak Hill,WV passed away at the home of her daughter, and care giver Rita Toler on Saturday, September 7, 2013 after a long illness. Born February 29, 1924 at Prudence, WV, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Essie Hazel Burdette Shepherd. Lucile was a cook for the Fayette County School System and was also a former telephone operator. She was a member of the Oak Hill Church of the Nazarene since 1952. She served the church as a Board member, Sunday School Teacher and in the Missionary Society. She was a 1941 graduate of Oak Hill High School and a member of P.E.IA. Lucile was preceded in death by her husband, Joe P. Duncan, by a son Joe P. Duncan, Jr., by three brothers, Frank J. Shepherd, William L. Shepherd and Charles Shepherd and a son-in-law, Denvil Kincaid. Surviving are her children, Barbara Kincaid of Beckley, Rita Toler and husband, Ray of Oak Hill and Randy Duncan and wife Karen of Oak Hill, a sister, Eunice Wheeler of Beckley and a uncle, Howard Snodgrass of St. Albans, WV. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at the Oak Hill Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Jerry Bush and Pastor Mike Angelona officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Friends may call at the Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill from 6-8 PM on Monday, September 9, 2013 and at church one hour prior to services on Tuesday.
