Lotus B. Davis

Lotus Brown Davis, 79, of Sand Branch, WV went home to be with Jesus on Monday, October 23, 2006 at Hilltop Healthcare Center in Hilltop, WV after a long battle with cancer. Born October 21, 1927 at Maple Fork, WV he was the son of the late Russell and Mattie Davis Davis. He was a retired surface miner. Lotus was a simple mane who enjoyed a simple life without a care for worldly goods. He was an avid hunter in which he harvested several trophy bucks, wild turkey and his most proud Black Bear. He stayed in the mountains hunting or ginseinging until time caught up with him. Most importantly, he surrendered his heart to Jesus Christ and attended the North Sand Branch Baptist Church until his health started to go away. He spent his latter days at home with his loving wife and enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Davis served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. A brother, Jim Davis preceded him in death. Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Shelby Jean Treadway Davis; three brothers, Dale Catlett and wife, Rusty of Maple Fork, WV, Gay Davis of North Carolina and Bub Davis of Ohio; four sisters, Janie Treadway and husband, Gay of Maple Fork, WV, Sis Briggs and husband, James of Winona, WV, Lena Horton of North Carolina and Lucy Mae Martin and husband, Bill of North Carolina; two sons, Roger Davis and wife, Erma of Gap Mills, WV and Dwayne Davis and companion, Debbie Cadell of Prosperity, WV; one daughter, Doretta Davis and husband, Les of Maple Fork, WV. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren along with many friends who will miss him dearly. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope on Wednesday, October 25, 2006 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Services will be on Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope with Rev. Jerry Tyree officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity WV with military graveside rites by VFW Post #3110, Oak Hill.
