Loretta Williams Rakes

Loretta Mae Williams Rakes , 87, of Oak Hill, WV passed away peacefully on Friday, January 01, 2016 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV.
Born June 02, 1928 at Willard, KY she was the daughter of the late John Frank and Eva Lucille Keyes Williams.
Loretta was a life-long member of the Jones Avenue First Church of God in Oak Hill where, until her health prevented it, she was active in the music program - singing in the Church Choir and the Sounds of Joy as well as being a part of the Sunshine Trio along with her husband, Homer, and Loraine Miller. She enjoyed being a member of the the Women of The Church of God.
Her husband, Homer C. Rakes; brothers, Harry and Harold Williams; and an infant sister, Lois Williams preceded her in death.
Loretta leaves behind a loving and devoted family which includes three daughters: Linda (Jim) Richardson, Carol (Calvin) Kidd and Nancy (Tom) Meadows; and one sister, Loraine Whaples.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kristi Dvorak, Melissa Wilshire, David Kidd, Steven Richardson, Stuart Richardson and JF Richardson; thirteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Doris Goins for the loving care she gave Loretta while she was able to remain in her home and to the staff of Fayette Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Bowers Hospice House for the care she received during her final days.
In keeping with her wishes, her body was donated to the Human Gift Registry at the WV School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg.
A memorial service will be held on at 3:30 PM Sunday, February 14, 2016 at the Jones Avenue First Church of God in Oak Hill with Rev. Patricia Franklin officiating. Friends may call from 3:00 PM to service time.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Jones Avenue First Church of God, PO Box 104, Oak Hill WV 25901 or Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley WV 25801.
