Loren Jackson Fox, Sr.

Loren Jackson Fox, Sr., 87, of Oak Hill, died Monday, August 5, 2013, at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, West Virginia. Born June 17, 1926 in Oak Hill, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Raymond Jackson and Ruby Helen Duncan Fox. Foxy was a graduate of Oak Hill High School, attended WV Institute of Technology, and was a graduate of Dunsmore Business College, VA. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and later held a private pilot's certificate. He was a past member of Hawks Nest Country Club, President of Oak Hill Lions Club, proprietor of Fox Poultry Farm, Inc., and an official in the WV Poultry Association. He served on various public service boards. He was an active member of Oak Hill Baptist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Nuckels Fox in 2004 and a sister, Helen Fox Quinn in 2012. Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Sumner Fox, sons, Larry Fox and his wife, Carroll of Gatewood, and Charles R. Fox and his wife, Linda of Wheeling; step-son, George Sumner and wife, Kathy of Oak Hill; grandsons, L.J. Fox, III and his wife, Marjorie of Oak Hill, Brian A. Fox of Gatewood, Eric Wellman, and Todd Wellman and his wife, Jennifer of Wheeling; great-grandchildren, Kai Tlynne Fox Wootten and husband, Elijah of Clovis, NM, L. Jackson, IV, Caladan, and Meridian Fox of Oak Hill, Ethan, Sara, and Emily Wellman of Wheeling, Jimmy and Mallory Albanese of Wheeling; great-great-grandchildren, Izaic and Aurora Wootten of Clovis, NM; two brothers, Paul Fox and his wife, Jean, and James Fox and his wife, Brenda of Oak Hill; a sister, Linda Gail Fox of Oak Hill; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. At his request, his body has been donated to the Human Gift Registry at West Virginia University. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday August 24, 2013 at the Oak Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Bryan Knight and Pastor David White officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Loren's name to Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV 25801.
