Lonnie Benson "Benny" Richmond

Our wonderful husband, father and paw-paw Lonnie Benson "Benny" Richmond , 56, of Beckley, WV lost his life due to an unfortunate accident on Wednesday, February 22, 2012. He left this earth and is now in the hands of God. Born July 16, 1955 at Red Star, WV he was the son of the late William O. and Mildred K. Walters Richmond. Mr. Richmond was a disabled coal miner. He was a US Army veteran having served four years in Inactive Reserves. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, children, family and friends. He enjoyed sports and was an excellent fisherman. His passion was NASCAR and Dirt Racing with his favorite drivers being Kyle Bush and Teddy "The Turd" Goins #81. Also, he enjoyed gardening and canning his own produce. One of his passions was working on automobiles and multiple types of small engines. He had a passion for his animals and you would always see him with his buddy "Miley." A granddaughter, Aliyah Brooke King preceded him in death in 2010. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Johanna "Cohen" Murdock Richmond, three daughters, Chrissie Raye "Rat" Richmond and fiance, Phillip King of Sand Branch, Lisa "Lizard" Richmond-Goins and husband, Teddy "Turd" Goins, II of Stanaford and his pride and joy was his granddaughter, who he thought of as a daughter, MaKayla Marie "Bug" Barringer of Sand Branch. Also surviving are two special sisters, Lisa Simmons and husband, Charles of Beckley and Juel Acord of Red Star, other sisters, Drema Burton of Las Vegas, NV and Brenda Roseblock of Beckley, other family and friends, Robert and Caren Hunt and children and Gary Lee Acord and wife, Sharon and children, Susie Acord and children as well as brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. Thomas D. Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Saturday, February 25, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
