Lois Jean Smith

Lois Jean Beverley Smith, age 73, of Hico, WV passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley. Born May 9, 1937 in Kilsyth, she was a daughter of the late Marvin Hubert and Myrl Inez Turner Beverley. She was a business teacher at both Nuttall High School and Midland Trail High School where she retired after 35 years of service. She was a 1955 graduate of Mount Hope High School and attended Beckley College and Concord College. She graduated from Morris Harvey College. Jean was a member of the Mount Hope Christian Church. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, James Jackson (Jack) Smith of Hico; daughter and son-in-law, Beverly Jean and David O. Moye of Ona; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia Yvonne and Daniel Barton of Fayetteville; brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence Marvin and Patricia Ann Beverley of Mount Hope; and one special grandson, Hunter James Shockey of Ona. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope with Minister Larry Hatfield and Minister Ken Overdorf officiating. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Ansted. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
