Lewis R. "Tommy Tucker" Abshire

Lewis Ray "Tommy Tucker" Abshire, 70, of Potomac, Maryland, formerly of Mount Hope, died Thursday, July 23, 2009 of pulmonary fibrosis while vacationing in Ocean City, Maryland. Born August 18, 1938 at Mount Hope, he was the son of the late George A. and Mabel Perry Abshire. He was retired from the IBM Corporation; was a U. S. Air Force veteran; served as a scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts; was a 1956 graduate of Mount Hope High School and was a member of the Mount Hope Christian Church. He was preceded in death by one sister, Muriel Deal; one brother, Ashby Abshire; a brother-in-law, Ralph A. Deal. Those left to cherish his memory are, his wife, Janice Diller Abshire; one daughter, Kristin Abshire of Potomac, MD; one son, Bill Abshire and his wife, Denise of Frederick, MD; one granddaughter, Isabella Mazariegos; two grandsons, Robbie Abshire and Devin Abshire; one sister, Hazel "Cissie" Kent of Beckley; one brother, Jim Abshire and his wife, Uldine of Uniontown, OH; a sister-in-law, Kathie Abshire of Wake Forest, NC; three aunts, Gladys Perry Snyder and Mary Perry, both of Mount Hope and Wanda Daley of Akron, OH; several nieces and nephews and numerous cousins. At his request, the body was cremated and no services are scheduled.
