Leonard Oliver “Pee Wee” Settle, 81, of Rt 1 Scarbro, WV, passed away Friday, August 11, 2006, at the Fayetteville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Fayetteville, WV. Born June 27, 1925, at Westerly, WVhe was the son of the late Oliver and Kanzie Aliff Settle. Leonard was a retired coal miner. He was also a member of the Mossy Living Word Church, was a U.S. Navy veteran, and was a member of the UMWA District 17. He was preceded in death by two sons, Emil Lee and Bruce Settle; two sisters, Lavella Rinehart and Inez Poston; and a brother, Eldridge Elgin. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Evans Settle of Scarbro, Rt. 1; five sons, Dallas Settle and wife Becky of Mossy, Daniel Settle and wife Jan of Oak Hill, Jimmy Settle of Mossy, Johnny Settle and wife Terri of Oak Hill, and Tommy Settle and wife Neva of Mossy; four daughters, Velva Walker and husband Hal of Louisville, Ky., Dreama Arrington of Oak Hill, Rose Wriston and husband William of Mossy, and Debbie Settle and husband Bill of Winston-Salem, N.C.; three sisters, Catherine Wriston of Oak Hill, Thelma Stover and Naomi Stover, both of Mossy; special nephew, Dwight Rinehart of Mossy; special friends, Aaron Davidson and Paul Basham; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, August 15, 2006, at the Mossy Living Word Church, with the Rev. Paul Basham officiating. Burial will follow in the Rinehart Cemetery at Mossy. Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday, August 14, 2006, at the Tyree Funeral Home and at the church one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
