Lena Lois Williams Hammer , 92, of Wilmington, NC died on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Wilmington Health and Rehab Center in Wilmington, NC. Born September 16, 1918 at Willis Branch, WV she was the daughter of the late Edgar Claude and Chloe Mae Evans Williams. Mrs. Hammer was a retired medical secretary. She had previously worked for National Geographic in Washington, D.C., was a former school teacher and was last employed as a Senior Citizen Center manger in the state of Washington. Her husband, Junius B. Hammer, Jr., sister, Rebecca Sue Williams and a brother, Doff Williams preceded her in death. Survivors include one son, Junius Burr Hammer, III of Wilmington, NC, daughter, Rhema Sue Amburgey and husband, Gerald of Sanford, FL, one sister, Erma Janice Williams of Louisville, KY and sister-in-law, Betty Williams of Louisville, KY. Also surviving are two grandchildren, four great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildrn and several nieces and nephews. Graveside rites and committal service will be on Friday, December 3, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Davis Cemetery in Mt. Tabor with Pastor Sam Vance officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope on Friday, December 3, 2010 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM.
