Willard “Lee” Ball, 64, of Oak Hill, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2025. Lee was born on December 30, 1960, at Oak Hill Hospital, to Roy Allen Ball, Sr., and Muriel Ruth “Bobby” Ball. Lee grew up in Oak Hill with his parents and his brother, Roy Allen “Scrapper” Ball, Jr.. Lee graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1979 and went on to obtain a Bachelors Degree in French and Spanish Education from Marshall University in 1985 and a Masters Degree in Speech and Communication Studies from WVU in 1991. Lee was Catholic by faith and attended Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Oak Hill. An avid traveler and lover of languages (he spoke four), Lee was known simply as “Señor” to thousands of students across Fayette County, to whom he taught Spanish and French until his retirement. Lee spent his time collecting antiques, planting beautiful gardens, and loving his rescue dogs and cats.
Lee is preceded in death by his father, Roy, his mother, Bobby, and his brother, Scrapper. He is survived by his nephew, Roy Allen Ball, III of Oak Hill, his nieces Rebecca Ball of Oak Hill and Ryanne Ball of Hurricane, as well as his great-nephew Roy Allen Ball IV and his great-niece Rachel A. Ball.
Per Lee’s wishes, no funeral or memorial will be held. If you want to honor Lee’s memory consider making a donation in Lee’s name to the New River Animal Rescue in Oak Hill, who generously stepped in and took over caring for his three beloved dogs, Clementine, Petunia, and Prince, when Lee fell ill and was no longer able to care for them.
