Lawrence Edward "Tommy" Thompson, 65, of Rt. 1, Fayetteville, WV died at his home on Friday, December 12, 2008. Born March 12, 1943 at Salem Road, Oak Hill, he was the son of the late Emmett H. Thompson and Ruby Mae Garrett Thompson Wheeler. He was retired from Dunn Coal and Dock at Cannelton and was a former butcher at Midget Market. Tommy was a member of the Harvey Chapel United Methodist Church for 51 years during which time he served as Sunday School superintendent, lay leader and teacher; member of Oak Hill Masonic Lodge No. 120 A.F.& A.M.; was a 1961 graduate of Collins High School, Oak Hill; and a member of the U.M.W.A., District 17. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Lois Faye Hodges, Delphine Myers, Patsy Weaver, and an infant sister, Bobbi Jo Thompson; one brother, James Thompson. Survivors include his wife, Lois Belle Tincher Thompson; two sons, Larry Thompson and his wife, Tammy and Terry Thompson and his wife,Kelly, all of Rt. 1, Fayetteville; a granddaughter, Tyler Marie Thompson, two grandsons, Garrett and Kyle Thompson; one sister, Joyce Ferro of Huntington and one brother, Elmas Thompson of Mineral Wells. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday, December 15. 2008 at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill with Rev. Ronnie Persinger and Rev. Robert Pauley officiating. Burial will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Oak Hill with Masonic rites conducted by Oak Hill Lodge #120 A.F.&A.M.
