Laurence R. Smith

Laurence R. Smith, age 85, of Oak Hill passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV Born April 14, 1924 in Oak Hill, he was the son of the late Laurence R. and Margaret Taylor Smith. Mr. Smith retired from the Fayette County Board of Education as Tech Coordinator of VoTech in Oak Hill retiring with 27 years of service. He was a veteran having served in WWII with the US Navy. Surviving are : His wife : Lois Elmore Smith of Oak Hill His three Sons : Cranston Smith and wife Kathleen of King, NC Vincent Smith and wife Vickie and Laurence R. Smith, III, all of Oak Hill His Daughter : Delores Kuhl and husband Robert of Charleston, WV 8 Grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at the Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill with Rev. Robert Wade officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Pea Ridge Road, Oak Hill where military graveside services will be conducted by Oak Hill VFW Post #3110. Friends may call a the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2009.
