Larry F. King, 68, of New Bern, NC formerly of Fayette County, WV, died Sunday, October 1, 2006 at his home following a brief illness. Born August 2, 1938 at Powellton, WV he was the beloved son of Fred and Louise Oxley King of Oak Hill, WV. Larry was retired from the US Marine Corps with 20 years service and retired from federal service with another 20 years service. He was a 1956 graduate of Gauley Bridge High School, member of the Masonic Lodge and a Shriner. A brother, David W. “Butch” King; stepdaughter, Kim Cole; maternal grandparents, Wyatt and Mattie Oxley and paternal grandparents, David and Effie King preceded him in death. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Bert; his children, Debra Hegel and husband, Scott of Cleveland, TN, Mike King of Katy, TX and Billy King of Havelock, NC; step-children, Lynne Sharpless and husband, Mike of New Bern, NC and C.J. Swenson; one sister, Peg Boyd and husband, Robert “Hook” of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; one brother, Ron King and wife, Pat of Oak Hill, WV; eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services were held on Friday, October 6, 2006 in New Bern, NC. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children.
