Larry Bertram Canterbury Sr., 79, of Beckwith, WV, passed away on April 16, 2018, in Charleston, WV.
He was born July 4, 1938, in Wriston, WV, to the late Boyd Ruby Canterbury Sr. and Mary Mae Bibb Canterbury.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Brenda Taylor Canterbury; his children, Larry Canterbury Jr. (Cynthia), Jody Canterbury (Elanda), Trina Canterbury Sale and Christy Canterbury Schell; grandchildren, Amy Canterbury Hanna (Grey), Nicholas Gover, Colin Schell and Colby Schell, his great-grandchildren, Caroline and Bennett Hanna; and siblings, Gloria Dean Woolwine of Richmond, IN, Margaret Ann Cook of Beckwith, WV and William Canterbury (Betty) of Fayetteville, WV.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Denise Elaine; siblings, Boyd R. Canterbury Jr. (Helen), Albert (AB) Canterbury (Mae Ann), Marsha Higginbotham (Gerald); and brothers-in-law Pat "Jake" Cook and Clyde Woolwine.
Larry was a member of Cotton Hill Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Devotional Leader, Trustee, Choir Member and Finance Committee Member.
A loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather, his greatest joys in life was spending time with his family and members of his church family. His love of outdoors included hunting and farming.
Larry began his career in residential and commercial construction in 1956. He was proud to provide quality housing in the Fayette County area for many years and was a consultant for Canterbury Construction, Inc. until his death.
Service will be held at the Cotton Hill Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Sam Vance officiating on Thursday, April 19, 2018, at 1 pm.Burial will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park in Oak Hill.
Friends may call from 11:00 am until service time on Thursday at the church.
