Kenneth G. Wesley “Little Man” Bickford, age 7, died Sunday, October 17, 2010 at home, showing everyone around him what true courage and amazing strength this wonderful boy possessed. Kenneth was a 2nd grade student at New River Elementary School. His childhood professions including life guarding at the Oak Hill Swim Club and being a junior “Mr. C” gym teacher. He also played Dukes of Hazzard with his buddies Gavin and Jagger. He played Joe Aiello Basketball for the Tarheels and Oak Hill Minor league baseball for the Orioles. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, MawMaw Gail, his guardian angel. Born January 11, 2003 in Beckley, WV, Kenneth was the greatest gift ever received by his parents, Charles (Junior) and Traci Carroll Bickford and sister, Tempest. He is also survived by his doggie, Gilly Sue. Funeral services will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, WV, on Friday, October 22, 2010 at 2:00 pm with Pastors Rudell Bloomfield and Sam Calloway, officiating.. Burial will follow at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville, WV. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, October 21, 2010, from 6 til 9 pm. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include: Gavin, Jagger, Lane, Scott Mikel, Barrett and Mason. Donations of sympathy in honor of Kenneth may be made to: The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, Johns Hopkins CM5C-800, 600 N. Wolfe Street, Baltimore, MD 21287 for further study of Brain Stem Glioma (DIPG), the cause of Kenneth's death.
