Judy Magee Martin, 66, of Hilltop, WV died on Sunday, February 14, 2010 at Cornerstone Hospital of Huntington in Huntington, WV. Born September 26, 1943 at Galesburg, IL she was the daughter of the late Harold R. Magee, Sr. and Edna F. Connor Magee. Judy graduated from Galesburg High School and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale with a degree in Art. She was a former Art Department director for West Virginia Public Television in Huntington and was a former employee of the Fayette Tribune - working with the Market Basket ads. She worked tirelessly with the Fayette County Headstart in the early 1980's and was a tutor with Reading Is Fundamental. She was artistic and creative and loved working with her hands. It could be painting or sewing, sculpting or embroidery - her talent knew no bounds. Her brother, Harold R. "Mac" Magee, Jr. preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband of 38 years, James A. Martin, Jr.; her only son of whom she was so proud, Peter M. Martin of Greensboro, NC; one sister, Mildred "Mickie" Freed of Seattle, WA, sister-in-law, Harriet Magee of Florida and five nieces, Sharon of Florida, Shawn of Michigan, Sheila Marie of Florida, Christine Diane and Joan Anita both of Washington. In keeping with her wishes, Judy was cremated. There will be no visitation or service.
