Josephine Bukant Nickell

Josephine B. Nickell , 89, of Oak Hill, WV died on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV. Born June 08, 1924 at Page, WV she was the daughter of the late John Julius Bukant, Sr. and Bessie Youravish Bukant. She was the stepdaughter of the late Anthony Youravish, Jr. and Lora Bukant Novobilsky. A member of the Oak Hill United Methodist Church she also attended the 3F's Circle. Josephine was a 1942 graduate of Oak Hill High School. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women. She was a retired secretary for Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill and had previously been employed by Garvin, later Lively, Insurance Company in Oak Hill. Her husband, Ralph Eugene Nickell; brother, John J. Bukant, Jr.; half sisters, Rena King and Mary Wells and half brothers, James Anthony Youravish, Jr., George Youravish and Joe Youravish all preceded her in death. Surviving are her loving family, twin daughters, Pamela Jo Smelcer and husband, Harold of Panama City, FL and Paula Jean Nickell of Dunbar. Pamela and Paula extend their heartfelt thanks to all their mother's caregivers. - Rhonda Cox, Julie Lovell, Marlene Lovell, Dorothy Ward and JoAnne Erickson. Funeral services will be on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. Delmas Wolfe officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.
