Josephine Humphrey Hughes

Josephine Humphrey Hughes , 92, of Packs Branch, WV died on Friday, July 20, 2012 at home. Born November 24, 1919 at Pax, WV she was the daughter of the late George M. and Lucy Jane Craddock Humphrey. She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse. Mrs. Hughes was a member of the Long Branch United Methodist Church. Her husband John W. Hughes preceded her in death. As the last surviving member of her immediate family she was also preceded in death by four brothers, Page Humphrey, Donald Humphrey, Robert Humphrey and Ricky Humphrey and two sisters, Barbara Canterbury and Mattie Humphrey. Surviving are her children, Max and Zelma Hughes of Amherst, OH, Howard and Brenda Hughes of Pax, Albert and Donna Brewer of Vermillion, OH, Gary and Kaye Weaver of Surfside, SC, Mike and Jane Conlin of Lancaster, PA and Thomas and Jane Hughes of Packs Branch. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren and special friends, Mable Williams, Lois O'Neal and Rick and Pat McDaniel. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dennis and Mabel Williams. Funeral services will be on Monday, July 23, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope with Rev. Loretta Taylor officiating. Burial will be at Pax Community Cemetery, Pax. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope on Sunday, July 22, 2012 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Family members will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Southern WV, PO Box 1472, Beckley, WV 25802.
