Josephine C. Givens

Josephine Carmelita Bonovitch Givens , 101, of Leesburg, VA formerly of Mount Hope, WV died on Tuesday, September 07, 2010 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Leesburg, VA. Born May 10, 1909 at Philippi, WV she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rosalia Bonovitch. She was a retired Secretary/Finance Officer for the State Road Commission in Oak Hill; was the secretary of Mount Hope High School for several years and also worked for Webb's Florists. Josephine was a member of the Mount Hope Christian Church for over 60 years where she served as a past president of the Women's Christian Fellowship of the church; and was at one time active in the Business and Professional Women's Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Morton Givens on April 12, 1991. Survivors are her five children, Eugene Givens and wife, Greta of Akron, OH, Ernest Givens and wife, Drucilla of St. Louis, MO, Emogene Givens Hutman and husband, John of Leesburg, VA, Edward Givens and wife, Kay of St. Louis, MO and Eric Givens and wife, Brenda of Mount Hope; 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 16 great great grandchildren. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope with Rev. Harmon Davis officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Mausoleum in Prosperity. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
