Joseph L. "Joe" Allen

Joseph Lee "Joe" Allen , 65, of Carlisle, WV died on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at St. Francis Select Specialty Hospital in Charleston, WV.

Born May 24, 1950 at Beckley, WV he was the son of the late Don and Mary Williams Allen.

He lived many years in the Cranberry-Prosperity area before moving to Fayette County with his wife and family. They resided for a time at Toney Fork and for the last 25 years in Carlisle.

Joe was a proud West Virginia coal miner until a workplace accident left him disabled. He was a member of UMWA Local 6046.

Brothers, Corky Allen, Walter Allen and Sid Allen and sisters, Mona Basham, Martha Pellegrino and Linda Hawkins preceded him in death.

Survivors include his loving an devoted wife, Mary Ann Renick Allen; two daughters, Pamela Cooper and husband, Scott of Oak Hill and Linda Lou Alexander of Fayetteville; son, Billy Joe Allen and wife, Shana; two brothers, Bobby Allen and wife, Kitty of Cranberry and Billy Allen and wife, Patty of Prosperity; and a sister, Charlotte Herron and husband, Virgil of Oak Hill.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Bradley Allen "Beefy" Alexander, II, Nicole Lynn Hiser, Joanna Hiser, Breanna Allen, Bethany Allen Joseph "Joey" Allen and Jacob Allen and two great grandchildren, Johanna Lee and Autumn Rayne.

The family wishes to extend a very special thanks fo niece, Stephanie Toney for all her help and many thanks to the staff at St. Francis Select Hospital in Charleston for their support and care.

Funeral services will be on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Pastor Virgil Herron officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill. Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.
