Johnny Claire Shanks II, 47, of Oak Hill, WV died on Monday, July 18, 2011 at CAMC - Memorial Division in Charleston, WV. Born March 04, 1964 at New Port News, VA he was the son of Mary Lou Ceprich Shanks of Oak Hill and the late Johnny Claire Shanks. Johnny was a former employee of Montgomery Ward in New Port News. He was a member of the New Port News Calvary Baptist Church where he sang in the choir and played piano. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Catherine Thomas and husband, Carlin of New Port News, VA, nephew, Carlin Thomas, Jr. and wife, Ashely of Gloucester, VA, niece, Amie Verastek and husband, Chris of Hampton VA, two great nephews, Christopher Verastek and Cannon Thomas and four great nieces, Destinee Thomas, Caitlyn Verastek, Lilly Thomas and Abby Thomas. Also surviving are two cousins, Timmy Ceprich of Oak Hill and Tammy Freeman, her husband John and their son, Dylan of Raleigh, NC. In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Shanks was cremated.
