John Louis VanHook, age 79, of Fayetteville, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.
Born April 22, 1935 in Houstonville, KY. He was the son of the late Sylvester and Josephine Huffman VanHook.
John was owner/operator of his own company that supplied electrical lines to the power, telephone and the mining industry. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving his country during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Bartholomew VanHook.
Surviving are his two sons, David VanHook and wife Sharon of Fayetteville, Daniel VanHook and wife Loretta of Fayetteville, his daughter, Peggy Floyd and husband Bruce of Wilmore, KY, five grandchildren, Louisa VanHook, Jonathan Floyd, Christopher Floyd, Dakota VanHook, Jordan VanHook, one great granddaughter, Lexie Ann Marie Burgess.
Also surviving are his three sisters, Patsy Hendricks of Bristol, VA, Cindy Sterratt of Texas and Josephine Hibbs of Cuba, OH.
In honoring Mr. VanHook's wishes, he will be cremated and a memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
