John S. Sprouse

John Samuel Sprouse, Jr., 81, of Welch, WV went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 09, 2009 at the Welch Community Hospital. Born January 29, 1928 at Westerly, WV he was the son of the late John Sprouse, Sr. and Julia Judson Sprouse. John was formerly employed by Semet-Solvey Coal Company at Kingston and Fayco Lumber Company in Oak Hill. He was the retired manager for Bailey Lumber Company in Welch. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Welch, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Keystone and was the first president of the Welch Gideons. Three sisters, Christine Mullins and two baby sisters, Wanda and Shirley preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Thelma Plasha Sprouse; two sons, Steven Michael Sprouse and Timothy Joe Sprouse and one brother, Clarence Sprouse. Three grandchildren, Cynthia Salmons and husband, Roy, Phillip John Sprouse and wife, Brittney and Michelle Laneave also survive him. Graveside rites and committal service will be on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Oak Hill with Rev. Jack Barker and Rev. Clay Phillips officiating.
