John Wesley Rice

John Wesley Rice, 94, of Lancing, TN formerly of Oak Hill, WV died on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Morgan County Life Care Center in Wartburg, TN. Born July 01, 1913 at Eastland, White County, TN he was the son of the late James Mattison and Arizona Harrington Rice. John was well known as the "Candy Man" and loved by everyone at the nursing home. Five brothers, William J. Rice, Charles Casto Rice, Rufus Rice, Thomas Rice and Hayden Clark Rice and five sisters, Lillie Mae Sanders, Jessie Lee Hamby, Lou-Anna Rice, Nellie Beatrice Seletyn and Mattie Louise Riser preceded him in death.. Survivors include a sister, Lois Virginia "Jenny Wren" Blaschak of Lancing, TN and several nieces and nephews. Graveside rites and committal service will be on Monday, December 31, 2007 at 2:15 P.M. at High Lawn Memorial Park in Oak Hill with Rev. John Bowen officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Monday, December 31, 2007 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
