John C. Reed

John Charles Reed , 70, of Oak Hill, WV died on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at his home. Born August 04, 1938 at Huntington, WV he was the son of the late Warren M. and Virginia Mae Campbell Reed. His was a life well lived. John was a 1956 graduate of Huntington East High School. He was a US Army veteran and retired from the US Corps of Engineers and National Park Service. He was an avid hunter and woodcarver. Prior to coming to Oak Hill, the Reed's resided in Wilsonville, NC from 1971 to 1987. It is fitting that he died when the mountains of West Virginia, that he loved so well, are dressed in their beautiful autumnal colors. Survivors include wife, Donna Jean Porter Reed and their dog, Bobo; two sisters, Debra Reed and Patricia Coffee as well as a host of other family members and friends. John's ashes will be interred at Bowen Cemetery beside his only son, John Reed, III who died in 1998.
