John Robert Parrish, 75, of Scarbro, WV died on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at Hilltop Healthcare Center in Hilltop, WV following a short illness. Born February 23, 1931 at Oak Hill, WV he was the son of the late Ernest Parrish, Sr. and Pansy Terry Parrish. Mr. Parrish was retired from Economy Wholesale, Oak Hill, a former employee of Long Airdox and the New River Company Store and a board member for the White Oak P.S.D. for over 20 years. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Oak Hill, WV where he was a member of the church board. John was a graduate of Oak Hill High School Class of 1948, an avid gardener and loved old cars. A brother, Ernest Parrish, Jr. and two infant sisters preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 54 1/2 years Martha "Mickey" Gavin Parrish; one daughter, Harriet Ann Woodson and husband, Michael, Oak Hill; one brother, David Parrish and wife, Tennis, of Oak Hill; two grandsons, Ben Woodson and Noah Woodson; a special friend, Kari Lea Davis of Oak Hill and by several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at the Church of the Nazarene, Oak Hill on Friday, May 5, 2006, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Services will be on Saturday, May 6, 2006, at 1:00 P.M. at the Church of the Nazarene in Oak Hill with Pastor Jerry Bush officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill WV. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Oak Hill Church of the Nazarene, PO Box 22, Oak Hill WV 25901 or the Fayette Plateau Ministerial Food Pantry, Att: Wanda Martin, 250 Main Street East, Oak Hill WV 25901.
