MC-USN (SS) John J. Norosky, 78, of Whiteville, NC died Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.
Born, September 30, 1938 in Summerlee, WV, the son of the late Frank Stanley and Nellie Chesunas Norosky. A brother, Frank C. Norosky preceded him in death.
John served in the U.S. Navy for more than 30 years and retired as Senior Master Chief and was a high school teacher for more than 20 years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church; a Mason (Lebanon Lodge 207), Shriner, York Rite, Scottish Rite, Sojourners, Sunday school teacher and Order of the Eastern Star. John was a 1956 graduate of Collins High School in Oak Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Huggins Norosky; three sons, F. John Franklin Norosky of Groton, Conn., Glenn David Norosky of Belpre, Ohio and Walter Stanley Norosky of Santa Rosa, Calif.; three sisters, Victoria N. Harrah and Dina N. Boggs, both of Oak Hill, Aleta N. Hoffman of Lancaster, Va.; one brother, David C. Norosky of Oak Hill; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; and Daisy Norosky, special hunting companion.
Final rites were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 24 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Ryan Clore officiating. Burial was at Whiteville Memorial Cemetery.
