John Grabosky, Jr.

John Grabosky Jr., 82, of Oak Hill, WV died on Sunday, February 20, 2005 at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill, WV following a long illness. Born June 16, 1922 at Carlisle, WV he was the son of the late John and Mary Lawaneska Grabosky. John was retired. He had worked for the NR&P Coal Company at Minden and the Minden Water Company. He had also worked on the New River Gorge Bridge project. John served in the US Marine Corps during World War II. He was in the invasion of Saipan and fought at Tinian and Okinawa. He received a Purple Heart for wounds received at Tinian. Survivors include wife, Rita Richmond Grabosky of Oak Hill; daughter, Alicia Gomola and husband, Bob, of Titusville, PA; son, Frank Grabosky of New Orleans, LA; brother, Steve Grabosky, Oak Hill, WV; sisters Minnie Kania, Oak Hill, Ann Kepto of Cherry Hill, NJ and Rose Kowalski of Michigan, 2 grandchildren and severl nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, WV on Tuesday, February 22, 2005 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Services will be on Wednesday, February 23, 2005, at 1:00 pm at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Rev. Bill Menefee officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill WV.
