John G. Cheetham, Jr.

John George Cheetham Jr., 78, of Mount Hope, WV died on Monday, March 07, 2005 at his home. Born March 09, 1926 at Stanaford, WV he was the son of the late John George and Nellie Bailey Cheetham, Sr. He had worked for New River Coal and Westmoreland Coal for 37 years and retired as a Federal (MSHA) Electrical Mine Inspector in November 1996. John was well known and loved by all. He loved to hunt and fish and most of all, enjoyed spending time in his garden. He served in the US Navy during World War II from September 5, 1944 to May 23, 1946. He was preceded in death by his a sister, Norma Warwick. Survivors include wife, Doris Jones Cheetham; three daughters, Sandra Sturms of Cary, NC, Debra Cheetham of Beckley and Nancy (Jonette) Cheetham of Huntington; two step-daughters, Terri Keith and husband, Rob, of Duluth, GA and Sandra Fox and husband, Andy, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; five grandchildren, Jennifer Sturms, Jason Sturms, Robert Sturms all of Cary, NC; John Cheetham and Greg Lilly both of Beckley; two step grandchildren, Anthony Lancianese of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Jordan Sadler of Duluth, GA; a brother, Talmadge Cheetham and wife, Ruth, of Dunbar; sister Marlene Waddell and husband, Freddy, of Glen Morgan; a special nephew, Charles Jones currently serving with the US Navy at Norfolk, VA and a special niece, Brandy Jones of Fayetteville. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope on Friday, March 11, 2005, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. Services will be on Friday, March 11, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope with Rev. Ronnie Stapleton officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill WV.
