Jo Ann Rakes

Jo Ann Stover Rakes, 78 of Gastonia, NC passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, January 22, 2023.
Born December 21, 1944 in Fayette, WV she was the daughter of the late Lillian Freda Stover Treadway.
Jo Ann retired as a truck driver, she loved making dolls, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband James Matthew Rakes.
Those left to cherish her loving memory include her 2 sons, Richard Rakes, (Cheryl) and James Rakes (Rose); 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren 3 sisters, Janette Rakes (John), Kahy Nagy (John), and Nancy Stover; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral service will be 12:00 PM Noon on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Pastor Paul Basham officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley, WV.
Visitation for friends will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
