Jesse Smith

Jesse Smith, 96, of Oak Hill, WV died on Sunday, March 02, 2008 at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill, WV. Born July 29, 1911 at Abraham, WV he was the son of the late Thomas Lewis and Mary Richmond Smith. Jesse was a trackman for the C&O Railroad having retired with 47 years service. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way. He served in the US Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Hagee Smith; four brothers, Bubbie Smith, Charlie Smith, Orval Smith and German Smith; one sister, Annie Smith and one half brother, Clifford Fox. Survivors include two daughters, Belinda J. Sharp of Oak Hill, WV and Linda Smith of Charlotte, NC; son, Richard Smith of Stanley, NC and by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Graveside rites and committal services will be on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at 12:15 P.M. at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Oak Hill with Rev. Bill Messer officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon.
