Jerry Lee Helton

Jerry Lee Helton, 66, of Mount Hope, WV died on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV. Born May 30, 1942 at Montgomery, WV he was the son of the late James Britt "J.B." Helton, Jr. and Margaret Evelyn Bailey Helton. He was a retired mail carrier for the US Postal Service. Mr. Helton was a member of the Calvary Chapel, Beckley and formerly attended the Mount Hope Christian Church. He was a member of the National Letter Carriers Union. He was a US Army veteran. Survivors include wife, Drema Sue Vance Helton; two sons, Jerry Helton, Jr. and wife, Amy of Beckley and Jason Vance Helton of Layland and two brothers, Jim Helton and wife, Bonnie of Mount Hope and Tom Helton of Bluefield, VA. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jamie and Jonas Helton of Beckley and Justin Tyler Helton of Pax, nephew, Matthew of Bluefield, VA and nieces, Debbie, Carol and Sharon all of California. Services will be on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope with Pastor Eddie Skaggs officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity, WV. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Jason Helton, Tom Helton, Gary Button, Michael Myles, Otis Underwood and Ronnie Perry will serve as pallbearers.
