Jason M. Smith

Jason Matthew Smith, 24, of Mount Hope, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2007. Born April 11, 1983 at Beckley, he was the youngest son of of George F. and Missey Jayne Smith of Mount Hope. Jason was a graduate of Mount Hope High School in 2001 where he served as Valedictorian. He loved music and was member of the West Virginia Youth Symphony and the West Virginia All State Band. He attended West Virginia University where he was a member of the WVU Marching Band and was a member of the Mount Hope Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, William H. Jayne, Jr. and a cousin, Amy Vealey. Other survivors include his brother, George F. Smith, III and his wife, April of Oak Hill; his maternal grandmother, Virginia Wheeler Jayne of Oak Hill; his paternal grandparents, George F. Sr. and Nancy Boyd Smith of Ona; his beloved dog, Emma; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins. Jason will be greatly missed by all those who loved and knew him. A Memorial Service will be held at 8:00 P.M. Monday, October 29, 2007, at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Mount Hope with a eulogy delivered by Brian Bigelow. Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
