Jannes Catherine (Jan Caye) Gwinn Gorby Londeree, 64, of Mount Hope, WV, passed away Friday, March 28, 2014 at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley. Born August 6, 1949 at Beckley, WV she was the daughter of the late J. C. "Jake" and Joan Graff Gwinn. Jan Caye was a retired librarian and administrator of Mount Hope High School. She was a graduate of Mount Hope High School and West Virginia University. She was a devoted Mountaineer fan and loved all things WVU. She loved to attend games in Morgantown. When illness prevented her from attending games, she watched games on television and cheered for her Mountaineers, win or lose. Even her license plate, said, “We Luv WVU.” She was a member of the Mount Hope Baptist Temple where she had attended all of her life, a member of the Mount Hope High School Alumni Association, WVEA, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, Greater Federation of Women's Club, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Mount Hope High School Hall of Fame. Jan Caye was affectionately known by her students as the “Heart and Soul of Mount Hope High School.” She obtained the rank of ambassador of the Girl Scouts of America. She is survived by her husband, Ray Londeree; a son, David Gorby of Mount Hope; brothers, John Gwinn, Jr. (Dianna) of Ghent and Tom Swift Gwinn of Mount Hope; stepchildren, Heather (Randy) Napier of Ronceverte and Rob (Kelly) Londeree of Williamsburg; four step grandchildren, Jade and Rosemary Napier and Joseph and Abbey Londeree. The funeral service will be at 11:00 A. M. Tuesday, April 1, at the Mount Hope Baptist Temple with Rev. Lester Harper and Father Roy Crist officiating. Burial will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Friends may call from 2:00 P. M. until 4:00 P. M. and from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. Monday, March 31, at Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mount Hope Baptist Temple, P. O. Box 466, Mount Hope, WV 25880 or to the MHHS Alumni Assocation, P. O. Box 98, Mount Hope, WV 25880.
