Mrs. Janice Light age 81, of Wriston, entered into rest on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley after a long illness.
Born August 20, 1937 in Oak Hill, she was the daughter of the late Berlin and Margaret “Maggie” Treadway Taylor.
Janice was a merchandiser for American Greeting Card Co. and previously worked as a bookkeeper for G.C. Murphy Co.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Howard, James and Jack Taylor.
Alzheimer's took over her mind and cancer her body but she maintained a lifelong faith in God and his plan. Janice was an active member in the Wriston First Church of God from her teen years where she developed and shared her passion for singing gospel music, singing with a variety of groups in her home church and the local christian community.
In addition to her steadfast faith her legacy was her family. She will always be remembered as a devoted wife, dedicated mother, loving grandmother, caring daughter and sister and faithful friend to all who knew her.
Janice leaves behind her husband of 58 years, Daniel Light; her son, Jamie Light (Alice) of Mooresville, NC and daughter Tammy Hypes(Ronald) of Cross Lanes, WV, grandchildren, Jarred Hypes(Savannah), Brooke Hypes, Jaxon Light, Samantha Ortiz and Roger Adkins; and two sisters, Brenda Canterbury and Karen Duncan(Randy). Janice has many extended family members and friends which she impacted with her generous spirit and unending love throughout her 81 years.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM. Monday, September 24, 2018 at the Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Rev. Ken Toler officiating. Entombment will follow in High Lawn Mausoleum, Oak Hill.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 PM. On Sunday.
