Jane Marie Elkins Gaas

Jane Marie Elkins Gaas of Oak Hill, WV died on Friday, March 28, 2014 at Raleigh General Hospital, with her family by her side after battling a long courageous battle with cancer. Born February 13, 1960, in Petoskey, Michigan, Jane was daughter of Max Elkins of Oak Hill and the late Mary Elkins. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Ricky Thomas Elkins, February 7, 2003, and brother Dean Morgan Elkins, March 28, 2011 and paternal and maternal grandparents. Jane was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Jane attended Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School, and graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1978, where she was a member of the Oak Hill High School Band.Upon graduation she attended Morris Harvey University. Jane worked at the Fayette Tribune, Plateau Printing and Office Supplies, Inc. and her last job was Executive Administrator of a Law Firm in Grand Junction, Colorado. In her spare time she enjoyed playing the piano and spending time with family. In addition to her father, Jane is survived by her sisters, Sandy Elkins Kidd, of Oak Hill, Carla Elkins Archuleta, husband Chris of Grand Junction, Colorado, and sister-in-law, Sheryl Elkins of Oak Hill and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and 20 nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home on Monday, March 31, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. – 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Carlos Melocoton, Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Oak Hill. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 921 West Neville Street, Beckley WV 25801.
