James "Jim" Edmond Terry, 78, of Oak Hill, WV died on Monday, December 12, 2005 at his home. Born April 11, 1927 at Oak Hill, WV he was the son of the late David James and Gladys Estelle Painter Terry. Mr. Terry was retired from the US Postal Service with forty years service. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. He was a graduate of Oak Hill High School and attended Glenville State College and Beckley College. Jim was a football and basketball official and was a member of the New River Valley Officials Association for 27 years. He served in the US Navy Seabees during World War II and the West Virginia National Guard for eight years. A daughter, Deborah Elaine Terry Kirk, his second grandchild, Jeremy Pino, one brother and three sisters preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Dolores E. Evans Terry; one daughter, Delora Elizabeth "Squeaky" Meadows and husband, Rick, of Beckley, WV; one son, James E. Terry of Huntington, WV; three grandchildren, Samantha Elizabeth Gibson of Oak Hill, WV, Rachel and Joshua Pino of Beckley, WV and four great grandchildren, Tierra Roop, Derek Roop, Nikolas Gibson and Mia Elizabeth Hess Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Thursday, December 15, 2005, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Services will be on Friday, December 16, 2005 at 1:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Father Roy Crist officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill WV. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, WV Division, 301 RHL Blvd., Station 6 & 7, Charleston WV 25311 or Hospice of Southern West Virginia, PO Box 1472, Beckley WV 25802 or the Minden Community Meeting Center, PO Box 359, Oak Hill, WV 25901.
