James Szuch Jr., 88, of Oak Hill, WV died on Thursday, October 28, 2004 at Hilltop Healthcare Center in Hilltop, WV. Born November 15, 1915 at Mount Hope, WV he was the son of the late James Szuch, Sr. and Mollie Demyan Szuch. He was a retired bus driver for the Fayette County Board of Education for 35 years; prior to that he was a coal miner for about 10 years. Mr. Szuch served in the US Army during World War II in the South Pacific and Korea. He worked extra as a policeman for 40 years with the City of Mount Hope. Also served as fire chief for the Mount Hope Fire Department from 1972 until 1984. He was a member of the Mount Hope Baptist Temple. He was preceded in death by his wife, Reba Perry Szuch, two brothers, Luis F. Szuch and Andy Szuch; and two sisters, Margaret Markonic and Elizabeth Kizer. Survivors include two brothers, Steve Szuch and Alex Szuch of Mount Hope and several nieces and nephews. Services will be 12 Noon Monday at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Hope with Rev. Jessie Parker officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Mausoleum, Prosperity. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
