James "Lotis" Smith

James "Lotis" Smith, 87, of Glen Jean, WV died on Thursday, December 18, 2003 at private care home in Culloden, WV following a long illness. Born November 04, 1916 at Sanger, WV he was the son of the late Joseph W. and Dora Cantley Smith. He was retired from Union Carbide, Alloy, WV. Mr. Smith was a member of the Glen Jean Union Church and the American Legion Lafayette Post #149, Fayetteville, WV. He was a World War II veteran of the US Army, #773 Tank Destroyer Battalion, 3rd Army. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Panker Smith on Sept 13, 1997 and a grandson, Jimmie Carol Black. Survivors include Daughters: Patsy R. Smith of Hurricane Lillian C. Black of Milton 4 grandchildren 1 great grandchild Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home on Saturday, December 20, 2003 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Services will be on Saturday, December 20, 2003 at 3:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Rev. Bill Menefee officiating. Entombment will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens., Beckley WV with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3110, Oak Hill, WV. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Glen Jean Union Church, Glen Jean, WV 25846.
