James Estil Scarbrough,79, of Shady Spring went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at the Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital in Beckley.

Born September 27, 1944 in Clear Creek, WV he was the son of the late Albert and Irene Dickens Scarbrough.

James was a proud United States Air Force Veteran where he worked as a chef and retired after 26 years of service as Master Sergeant . In his leisure he enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing softball, gardening, being outdoors, and especially loved cooking. He was a member of the Clear Creek Presbyterian Church and loved all of his church family. His greatest joy in life was being a husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Ann Harrison Scarbrough; sisters, Helen Williams, Judy Williams, and Geraldine Williams; and brother, Eddie Scarbrough.

Those left to cherish his wonderful memory include his wife, Marbra Jarrell Scarbrough; children, Patrick Wayne Harrison, Wanda Lynn Hough, Stuart Lee Harrison (Jennifer), Elizabeth Ann Plumley, Lisa Griffith, James Scarbrough, Jr. (Cara), Thomas Taylor, Jr. (Tammy), Holly Williams (Butch), Chris E. Taylor (Kim) and Clarissa Blevins (Jamie); 20 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sisters, Ann Sweeney (Mike), Jean Collins, and Ruth Scarberry; brother, Lewis Scarbrough (Carol); special friends, Butch Williams, and Gig Harold; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope with Pastors Dwayne Williams and Ronnie Williams officiating. Burial will be 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 atEwing Creek Cemetery in Clear Creek with Military Honors being performed by the Wyoming County Veteran Honor Guard.

Visitation for friends will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home in Mount Hope.
