James R. "Randy" Elder

September 15, 1951 — January 5, 2010

James "Randy" Randall Elder, 58, of Oak Hill, WV left this world unexpectedly to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 05, 2010 at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill. Born September 15, 1951 at Sanger, WV he was the son of the late James E. and Norma Jean Clifton Elder. The most important thing in the world to Randy was his family and his faith. He believed in being happy at home and at work - that you shouldn't spend half your life unhappy. No matter what job you do take pride in it, do your best with love and love what you do or find something else. Spending time with his family was the most valuable thing to him. As a long-standing member of the Gentry Baptist Church in Sanger, over the years, Randy held the positions of Deacon, Trustee, Maintenance and Men's Sunday school teacher. Randy was also dedicated to his work. Having been a member of the Lowe's team at the Fayetteville location since it's opening, he took great pride in the store, his co-workers and in serving the customers. Many may remember him from his 32 years as a self-employed carpet installer in the Oak Hill-Beckley area. Randy was a Class of 1970 graduate of Collins High School in Oak Hill. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 38 years, Karen Sue "Susie" Elder; his children, Tara Clifton Elder, Traci Dawn Elder and Adam Randall Elder; his granddaughter, Caitlyn Brianna Elder; his sister, Jeanie Gay Smith; sister-in-law, Patti Jenkins, brother-in-law, Gary Runion and wife, Betty of Mullins and brother-in-law, Freddie Runion and wife, Connie of Beckley. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 10, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Gentry Baptist Church in Sanger with Rev. Bill Drennen officiating. Online condolences may be sent at www.tyreefuneralhome.com Arrangements by Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, WV
